But it’s a wax model of Sonny Liston, the man that Clay defeated later that month in order to become the heavyweight boxing champion, who appears on the Sgt. Pepper cover. Liston had held the heavyweight title for two years, from 1962 to ’64, before losing it to Clay, who subsequently changed his name to Muhammad Ali.
